Shoulder and Knee Care | Performance Medicine | Director of Longevity, DOCS Health

Expert orthopaedic care, built around you.
Dr. Reza Jazayeri combines specialized shoulder and knee care with a performance medicine approach. He looks beyond the immediate injury to understand each patient’s goals, physical demands, and factors that may affect recovery. Whether the plan involves surgery or nonsurgical treatment, his focus is helping patients return to strength, function, and the activities they love.
As DOCS Health’s Director of Longevity, Dr. Jazayeri looks well beyond the immediate orthopedic problem. He recognizes that how well — and how quickly — you recover depends on far more than the operation itself. Metabolic health, hormonal balance, and nutritional status each play a decisive role in healing, and optimizing them is a core principle of his comprehensive approach to achieving best-practice outcomes. The goal is never simply to repair an injury, but to return you to strength, function, and the life you want to get back to.
Training & Background
Dr. Jazayeri earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, a Cedars-Sinai affiliated institution right here in Los Angeles.
Before joining DOCS Health as an orthopedic surgeon and Director of Longevity, he spent more than 15 years with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, serving patients across the Greater Los Angeles area. His deep local roots and national-level training give patients a rare combination of world-class skill and neighborhood trust.
Dr. Jazayeri is also an internationally recognized speaker on the most advanced, elite approaches to musculoskeletal care — combining orthobiologics and regenerative medicine with metabolic optimization of healing, alongside the most current surgical techniques. The same cutting-edge thinking he shares with audiences around the world informs the care of every patient he treats.
A Philosophy of Care Built on Relationships
Dr. Jazayeri built his practice on a simple but powerful idea: medicine is a relationship, not a transaction. That means listening carefully during each visit. It means explaining your options in plain language. And it means never rushing a decision about surgery.
He believes the best outcomes arise from a detailed, collaborative approach — one that integrates prehabilitation, advanced surgical techniques, nutritional and metabolic optimization, targeted rehabilitation and performance training, and long-term joint-health strategies.
You are not a case number. You are a person with goals, concerns, and a life you want to get back to — and his approach respects that from day one.

Dr. Jazayeri, took care of both my shoulder replacements. I am exceptionally happy with his care and the quality of time he spent with me. Both my shoulders are now feeling great. I’m able to do all the activities that I have previously thought was never possible. I got denied by multiple surgeons who told me this was gonna be impossible given the advanced deformation from my previous injuries . Dr. Jazayeri was able to take me through both sides and gave me the comfort and confidence I needed, and now I’m able to go back to golf, tennis and pick up my grandkids. Highly recommend him!!
Publications
Dr. Jazayeri’s publications include reviews of nutritional support and amino acid supplementation around orthopedic surgery. His 2026 coauthored review examines nutritional screening and perioperative support in spine surgery. It synthesizes existing studies; it is not a clinical trial of his practice or a particular supplement. Explore our patient guide to perioperative nutrition.
