Performance & Longevity Medicine
A consultative service with Reza Jazayeri, MD — for patients navigating orthopedic surgery, injury, and recovery.
Board-certified orthopedic & sports medicine physician. Director of Longevity, DOCS Health. This is a medical consultation — an evaluation of your history, goals, and laboratory data, coordinated with your orthopedic surgeon and care team.
About the field
A whole-person evaluation around orthopedic care.
Performance and longevity medicine is a consultative discipline focused on the factors that surround orthopedic care — metabolic health, body composition, nutrition, sleep, and the modifiable elements of a patient's general health.
It is a physician evaluation, not a product. Dr. Jazayeri reviews each patient's history, goals, and laboratory data, then discusses an individualized plan only when clinically appropriate. Recommendations are always made in the context of your existing orthopedic treatment.
Who this is for
A consultation may be appropriate for patients who are:
Preparing for an orthopedic procedure and want a structured review of their health before surgery.
Recovering from an orthopedic injury or operation.
Experiencing a recovery that has been slower or more complicated than expected.
Seeking to better understand the factors that contribute to recovery and long-term musculoskeletal health.
Labs & biomarkers
Measuring what's modifiable.
The consultation is built around objective laboratory data — modifiable, actionable markers across your metabolic, nutritional, and hormonal health. These act as screening tools: a baseline that lets Dr. Jazayeri tailor individualized recommendations to you, rather than apply a single approach to everyone.
Glucose, HbA1c, insulin sensitivity, lipid profile.
High-sensitivity CRP and related markers.
Vitamin D, iron studies, key micronutrients.
Relevant hormonal markers reviewed in context.
Lean mass and functional measures.
This approach draws on the published MOBOT framework — Metabolic Optimization Before Orthobiologic Therapies — which describes how addressing modifiable factors such as insulin resistance, chronic low-grade inflammation, vitamin D status, and body composition may improve the biological environment ahead of orthopedic and regenerative procedures. These metrics are often reviewed alongside cartilage-preserving and arthritis injections such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or bone marrow aspirate.
